Guide To Building Homemade Wind Generators

Most people assume that homemade wind generators are very difficult to construct. A couple of years ago I would have agreed with you. I mean it seems very difficult to build with fancy blades spinning top of their tower. After watching the price of commercially available models we immediately decided that no matter what it took we would find a way to have one of these home wind generators. I went online looking for some plans after a friend told me he had bought online a few floors. It 'really sucks. I spent $ 94 for four sets of plans that I was closer to learning how to build homemade wind generators. So I decided to do it. I mean how hard could it be? I collect all the pieces that I needed to build our wind generator homemade. I bought an Ametek motor from eBay. I got the tower from a friend who had an old TV tower was no longer required. The blades would be done by a residual piece of piping which I received for free from a local site of construction. I had the junk that keeping everything together, from our local hardware store. I used the model that my friend gave me to cut out the blades which took about an hour to complete. This included a coat of UV varnish to protect them from harmful effects of the sun. I used a piece of pipe to mount the motor inside to protect from rain (I would not want RFI) and mounted to a flange. The tail was mounted on the other end of the pipe that the engine has been a. The tail consisted of a piece of steel rod from the hardware store and a piece of plastic that I cut into a triangle. The flange is connected to a 2-inch piece of pipe so that it could rotate. 2 in. Why you ask? Well, TV towers have a nice mount that fits on top of a tube 2 inches quite well. In total I spent $ 194. . . most of which was spent on the engine. 16mph in twenty our generator produces about 1000 watts. Does not get much more wind than that here, but in storms I've seen the peak at 1400 watts. In total I saved over 2,300 dollars for the purchase of a new wind generator. Homemade wind generators certainly able to perform and to appear as commercial ones, and we can prove it!
