MOONLIGHT LUNAR FRESNEL LENS SOLAR PANEL PV PHOTOVOLTAIC NIGHT SOLAR ENERGY

This video was shot using concentrated moonlight only. We managed to get 1 volt out of a solar panel at 2AM.

it would also probably destroy all nocturnal life.

  2. DieterMe says:

You should use a voltmeter with higher resolution.

    Keep on the good work.

  3. 3wr33k says:

depends on the phase of the moon, during a new moon the sun shines on the back side.

  4. Rescueswimmer85 says:

Suppose NASA launched and placed a mirror on the moon. that would be cool, but I’m sure everyone would be pissed about having 2 suns.

    Infinite Energy though, right?

    Science never sleeps haha.

Can wait to see this in optimal conditions. Had a thought a long while ago and wondered if you could start a fire with a large frenel and a full moon. I have 56″ spot lens i bought a couple of years ago from Dan.
Thanks again Dan, Also love your outakes!

If no heat is created no energy is being produced…but I am still watching and maybe I’ll be surprised, lets see… thought so. Now do the same thing in full 12 noon and stay away from the focused beam…

put plastic down under your mirror a big pace. ps i love your videos u make it easy for me to understand

  9. rotcon says:

surely if you had the fresnel lense and photo-voltaic cells closer to the mirrors, you would produce more electricity as light follows the inverse square law… so you could increase the energy significantly in comparison to what you were recieving?

  10. NirradGann says:

the results are sometimes a bit dubious, but you sure do come up with lots of ideas, cool brain food

  11. BurtBartlow says:

There is no moon. The earth is flat.

  12. RealDiaz says:

take some garlic and nodoze with you next time.

    Hey Brother,

I saw this and had another idea. If you used the parabolic lenses to collect the moon light and put a small 6″ frensel lenses at the focal point, or just beyond, you should get a concentrated beam coming out of the lenses, that you can direct at a photovoltaic cell, or a larger frensel lens. This is because the smaller frensel could be placed on a gimble to direct the light off the mirror-moon axis.

I am going to try this with my cardboard tinfoil and the bathroom lens

    lol..

I remember in the Florida everglades that I was able to get a small pin dot of moon light to shine out of my telescope. I would guess that you could get up to 3 volts from a full moon. I would try this experiment but I generally wake up the next day after a full moon in a strange place with blood on my mouth — I don’t want to really talk about it though.

  16. GREENPOWERSCIENCE says:

Agreed:-) I thought it would produce more. I will be doing this again the next full moon before summer. It is just miserable outside at night here in July. Humid, hot, mosquitos, muddy, condensation. I already miss the great weather we have been experiencing.

  17. radiofun7 says:

If you do this again, try using an accurate meter and measuring in milli volts. That way if you get say 870 mv, you will know what happened.

  18. gettavid says:

You can get some anti fog spray for really cheap. Try it

  19. easyrhinotuber says:

God! I was thinking the same x_x
    Im sure it’s doable!

  20. danthemanzizzle says:

    one volt…. one volt?

  21. cheapbeersucks says:

    That’s funny shit

  22. Lalli1987 says:

    This was funny. Nice experiment.

  23. hoser4 says:

Dan, there were actually about five or six times when your DMM read 1. However, what scale was it set on? If it was on the 20V range (since the DMM read 001 instead of 010), you probably had it too high — very likely, you were getting some amount of voltage off the panel without even knowing it. Try using the 2V range instead for greater precision.

  24. cdltpx says:

Perhaps we coould go to the mood mine for titanium dioxide then spread it across the moon so it could give us more light.

  25. yourroaddog says:

glad you tried it thanks for sharing
